Characters of Spur Gear:
- Number of teeth and modulus: The number of teeth and modulus of the spur gear determines its size and the force transmitted. The module is a basic parameter in gear design, which is defined as the reciprocal of the number of teeth of a gear. The larger the module, the larger the size of the gear, and the greater the force that can be transmitted.
- Meshing mode: The spur gear is meshed in a parallel axis mode, which means that the axis of the gear must be parallel. When the gears mesh, the teeth of one gear correspond to the teeth of another gear, thus transmitting rotational motion.
- Speed and torque relationship: In spur gear transmission, the larger gear (with fewer teeth) will rotate at a lower speed while delivering a higher torque. Smaller gears (with more teeth) will rotate at higher speeds while delivering lower torque.
